August 2008 - It's official: We're Engaged

Virginia shows off her new ring!

All the talks, discussions, debates, banter and discourse about marriage and our future had finally run its course. Thankfully the time came to dump the talk and start the action. Good thing, I was running out of Aspirin.  After finalizing the ring research and finger sizing, I turned to my good friend Kathy at Leading Jewelers Guild to help place an order for the desired engagement ring. She was extremely helpful!  Meanwhile summer rolled on and  Virginia was very patient - she knew 'something' was in the works but didn't prod or bring up the subject of the ring or a proposal.

So when the time was right, I excused myself from our weekly patio dinner and returned to the table with the tell-tale little box and a card.  Enough time had passed this summer so I think she had forgotten that a proposal could be coming at any time!

Anyway, after I read her my specially made card, asked her hand in marriage, put the ring on her finger (a perfect fit - whew!) we commenced with our happy dance, kisses and of course pouring another glass of wine under the canopy of a warm and special summers evening.  Oh yeah - did I mention that she said "YES!" ??

Needless to say we both are really excited.  As far as a wedding date,  we are still working that out - nothing close to being confirmed yet.  There are many factors to consider, so (sigh) it's back to more talks, discussions, debates, banter and discourse.  Pass the bottle of Aspirin.
